A fair one-time purchase model, not another recurring rent.
Open iOS note-taking App
Wunderink
An iOS note-taking app that doesn’t screw you over. Wunderink is open, subscription-free, and built for people who want ownership instead of vendor lock-in. No forced cloud, no artificial limits, no rent-seeking. Just your notes, your files, your choice.
Your notes should not be held hostage by vendor infrastructure.
Designed around ownership, portability, and transparent storage.
Proudly made in Europe Wunderink why your notes need a subscription, someone else’s cloud, or an account They don’t.
What other note-taking apps do
The subscription playbook
Sell the app cheap. Get millions of users. Become unavoidable. Flip the pricing model. Screw over the people who trusted you. Push everyone into a cloud that is "totally necessary" for all those AI features nobody asked for. Train on personal notes. Sell the data to Big Tech. Make switching painful. Make leaving expensive. Make staying worse.
What Wunderink does
Give ownership back to the people taking notes.
One-time purchase. Local-first files. Optional sync. No forced cloud. No AI tax. No subscription trap dressed up as progress. Community-driven by design: want a feature? Suggest it, discuss it, or help build it on GitHub.
FAQ
Questions before launch
Will Wunderink be subscription-free?
Yes. Wunderink exists to end the subscription trap in note-taking. Your notes are not a revenue stream to be milked every month. You buy it once and own your workflow again.
Where will my notes be stored?
Your notes should not be held hostage in a forced cloud. Wunderink is on-device first, built around local files and infrastructure you choose. No vendor cloud as a toll booth.
Will it support Apple Pencil handwriting?
Yes. Low-latency handwriting, pressure-sensitive tools, highlighting, erasing, lasso selection, undo, and color controls are first-version features.
Can I import and annotate PDFs?
Yes. PDF import, annotation, highlighting, handwritten notes, form filling, scanning, image insertion, and export are part of the workflow.
Does Wunderink use generative AI?
No. Wunderink is not a wrapper around somebody else's AI bill. Generative AI is exactly how apps justify cloud dependency, subscriptions, and lock-in. Search, OCR, handwriting recognition, and spelling support run locally on-device.
How will syncing work?
Sync is your choice, not a hostage situation. If you want it, use your existing iCloud or a self-hosted cloud such as Nextcloud via WebDAV. Wunderink will not build a cloud just to rent it back to you.
Which platforms come first?
Wunderink starts on iPad, then expands the shared Swift architecture toward iPhone and Mac.
Will audio notes be included?
Yes, but not at launch. Audio recording and tap-to-seek sync are on the roadmap for a later release after the first version ships.
